NEW ORLEANS
French Quarter

Looking Forward

February 2 2016 | News

Crescent City Brewhouse proudly enters its 25th year of operation within the historic French Quarter. On January 31, 1991, Crescent City Brewhouse opened its doors providing Louisiana and New Orleans with its first brewpub.  This date marked the first brewery in the immediate area to open in more than 72 years, and rooted a craft beer scene within the city.

Looking forward, the team is excited to welcome Karl Hartdegen as brewer.  He will brew under the guidance and expertise of German Brewmaster and Founder, Wolfram Koehler. Direct supervision and operational direction will be provided by Joel Zetzmann, office manager and brewer of 10 years.

Karl Hartdegen is a recent graduate from the University of New Orleans and received a Master’s of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management.  Prior education includes a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Louisiana State University.  The science based background led him into the oil, gas, and chemical industry where he worked in quality control laboratories (SGS and Camin Cargo) as a chemist, supervisor, and manager.  He will utilize scientific proficiency and a passion for fine crafted beer to continue the tradition of excellence that Crescent City Brewhouse has established over the past 25 years.  He replaces Ryan Woodfill, who held the position for five years.
